A small twin-engine plane encounters engine trouble over the mountains.

The pilot, realizing the plane will crash with no safe landing options, puts it on autopilot and addresses the passengers.

He announces the grim news:

  • The plane is going down,
  • There are only three parachutes,
  • And he’s taking one for himself.

Without hesitation, the pilot grabs a parachute and jumps out.

The three remaining passengers—a CEO, a priest, and a boy scout—are left to decide their fate.

The CEO speaks up first:

  • "I’m the CEO of three major companies, overseeing critical global projects."
  • "I’m probably the smartest man on Earth, so I deserve a parachute."

He grabs a chute and leaps out.

The priest turns to the boy scout and says:

  • "I’ve lived a long life and am prepared to meet my fate. You’re young, so you should take the last parachute."

The boy scout smiles and reassures him:

  • "Don’t worry, Father, we’re both safe."
  • "That smartest man in the world? He just jumped out holding my backpack!"
