Eleanor and Sophie, two lifelong friends, are sitting at their favorite little cafe, sharing a leisurely lunch...
Eleanor, a devoted Christian, is sipping her tea while Sophie, a proud Jewish woman, is poking at her salad, clearly in deep thought.
Midway through the meal, Sophie glances up...
"Eleanor, please don’t take this the wrong way, but how can you honestly believe that Jesus walked on water, turned water into wine, or made the lame walk?"
Eleanor pauses and sets her tea down with a delicate clink and gives Sophie a little smile...
"Well, look at it this way," says Eleanor, "maybe there were rocks beneath the water’s surface, and he crossed over them..."
"Or maybe there was a little wine in the water, and that’s what someone tasted..."
"As for healing the sick, maybe they just needed his guidance"...
She continues, "But who are you to question my beliefs?"
"I mean, what about Moses parting the Red Sea?!"
Sophie, still poking at her salad, ponders this for a moment, then nods thoughtfully and replies...
"Wasn’t that something?!”
